Grade 7ELA and 7FLA will be working diligently on a book report. Each student has the choice of fiction or non-fiction. Students must provide the following:
1) A book advertisement complete with: a) A summary b) Why you would recommend it and c) Your favorite scene. * Remember to give supporting details or examples to support your answers.
2) Make a text to self, text to text or text to world connection. ( again...you must include supporting details)
3) What is the main idea or theme of this selection? Basically, what lessons can we learn or take away from this book?
4) Evaluation: Were you completely satisfied with this book? Why or why not? Give it a rating out of 5 stars. 
5) Include the author and title as well. 
Please do your very best work. 
Choose a "Just right" book. Not one that is too easy or one that would sprain your brain! ;)

Grade 8 LA students: Just a reminder that your good copy of your comic is due by Tuesday. Remember the six point checklist? Best work only and I look forward to reading and viewing your submissions.
Grade 7 LA students: Excellent presentations today! Your word choice was quite extraordinary and your voice was phenomenal. I truly enjoyed the imagination your brought to each literary selection. Please share your ideas with you family members, I am sure they would be proud of you too.

Up to April 23

Grade 7 LA: Please read for at least 20 minutes a day.  Plus, I challenge you to try to find a word that I do not recognize! Baffle me with your literary brilliance.  Expand your vocabulary and share when you return on Tuesday. :)
Grade 8 LA: Comic Creation Page 40 Nelson Literacy.  Remember the six point process for creating your very own comic? What will your characters be like? Setting? Problem to be solved? Action packed adventures?
April 28th for 8F and the 29th for 8ELA. Read this weekend please. Why not check out some comics for inspiration and hopefully a giggle too. :)

Assignment Updates and Contests!

7ELA and 7FLA: Your good copy of your writing assignments must be handed in by Thursday, April 17th.  Reports do not have to be typed, but you are free use computers in my class or in our library if you wish. * Read 20 minutes each day! Grow some new dendrites and teach us about what you have learned. :)

Monday, April 7th Update

8FLA: Please pass in your summative assessment on Lisa by Monday, April 7th.
8ELA: You will have until Tuesday to finish because you do not have me on Day 2.
7ELA: Read for 20 minutes and ask your family or friends if they have any fears or phobias. Teach them about the neat ones that we read about. Did you finish your acrostic poem yet? If not be prepared to hand one in on Monday. :)

8FLA: Read 20 minutes, be sure that your dialogue assignment is complete as we will be finishing presentations.
7FLA: We will finish The Fog Horn next day and be sure to read 20 minutes tonight.
