Due to family illness, I will be on short term leave.  Ms. Maureen Gay will be in for me during my absence. Should you have any questions, you may reach her at 888 8470, just leave a message with one of our admin assistance as she does not have voicemail. 
Grade 7 LA *Read every day for a minimum of 20 minutes. Classes will continue with their Persuasive Writing Essays. A rubric was provided, from there they will continue on with the Step Up theme. They will be completing Writing, Reading and Speaking outcomes.  Ms. Gay will have student record homework in their agendas as she will not have a Blog. Students have class time to complete their work. They should not have a great deal of homework as I like to witness their progress as they complete their assignments.
Grade 7B and 7G Health will be covering the Career and Volunteerism curriculum outcomes! Student may choose from a variety of options to show what they know.  www.voki.om, www.makebeliefcomix.com, bitstrips, www.careercruising.com * username (summerside)and password( intermediate) to explore careers of interest to them!  Artistic students may choose poster board for their displays should they so choose. :)
 Grade 8G Health: This group will be covering the curriculum outcomes in the LifeLearning section.  You can access the outcomes online should you like to see each outcome by subject and grade level.  * Google the PEI Dept of Ed and on the left you can click on educators then go the the link on curriculum documents. It is all on line so you can be aware of expectations.
* Class time will be given as well as computer lab time to work on projects.

Grade 7ELA and 7FLA: Read 20 minutes please. Give some thought to your "Step Up" persuasive writing piece. What would you be willing to "step up" for? 

For Wednesday, Sept 19th

7ELA and 7FLA:  Read 10 minutes please and be sure to give some careful thought to your first "Step Up" persuasive piece of writing.  What do you car about? As a group we created a huge list of topics, which one spoke to you?   I have a rubric to guide you, once you have completed the brainstorming process.
7B and 7G Health: please make sure I have your "Successful Person Project" by tomorrow if you were ill or not quite finished your project we first talked about on Friday. Thank you!

8GHealth: Oh my goodness, 9 people out sick today! Looks like we will need more time to rehearse for your role play projects.  Please bring props, and lines to class when you are feeling better! Take care and hope all are feeling better soon! 

Assignments up to Tuesday, September 18th

Grade 7FLA: Wow! I was completely impressed by your public speaking talents, as well as the constructive comments shared with your peers. Thank you for your participation and planning that went into each speech.  Tomorrow we will pick up  where we left off. Please remember to read tonight for at least 20 minutes. Thanks.
7ELA:  Thank you for your participation in small groups today. Your feedback was genuine, helpful and very kind.  Tomorrow we will be working in our Writing Outcomes section.  Please read 20 minutes tonight, minimum. Thank you.
7G and 7B Health: Both classes had class time today to work on their draft of their "Successful Person Project".  Most finished in class. Students that did not quite finish today, are asked to finish their work at home. Please see handout for more detail if needed, there are 4 questions to be completed.
8G Health: I didn't have you today, but want to remind you that tomorrow will be our last day to finish working on our "Time Management Role Play" assignments.  Presentations begin on Wednesday and I can't wait to see what you have created. Your drafts were very creative and entertaining too. :)

7FLA: Read for 20 minutes please, you will be asked to update your Reading Log again on Monday. If you read more than 20 minutes that is great too! :)  Next class we will also be sharing our Two True One False speeches. Use the checklist of expectations as your guide so you can go for the gold! 3/3
7ELA: Same plan as 7FLA except you will receive your checklist on Monday, as 7FLA had one more class than you did.
7B and 7G Health:  We will continue to examine the ways you are "smart".  We will be using Health 1 chapter one to examine learning styles as well as to meet the Life Learning Outcomes. See your graphic organizer for more details. 
Your next assignment will be to think of someone that you believe is successful.

What makes this person successful, in you opinion?

How did they achieve their goals?

Were there any obstacles her or she had to overcome?

* You can interview someone that you know, you could do research on the internet if you chose a celebrity, or if it is someone that passed on, perhaps a family member could help you recall information.
We will be sharing our presentations in small groups on Tuesday, Day 1.  I will give you class time on Monday to work on this.
8GHealth: Time Management Outcomes Weekly Planner was due today, Friday, Sept 14th.  Monday we will continue to work on our Time Management Life Scene Scenarios. Feel free to bring in props to bring your role plays to life. :)
