October 31st

7FLA: Please be sure to hand in your non-fiction article questions by Friday.  The title of the article was Rescued Dog Gives Others a Helping Hand. There are 5 questions to be completed.
7ELA: You just received the questions today so you can have until Monday to finish yours as I didn't think homework would be much fun on October 31st! :)
8E and 8FLA:  Choose a book that you have read and prepare to share a book talk. Keep in mind you must include:
1. Title and author
2. A visual representation large enough for the class to see ( * examples could include a poster, slide show, Voki, video, model, puppet show, web, Prezi, become a character etc)
3. A quote and explain why it was significant
4. Sell the book to the crowd! Like a movie trailer, give us no more than 3 minutes explaining the characters and the setting. * Just don't give away important details that would ruin the story. Highlights only please. * If your book is non-fiction, you could share 3 important or interesting facts as opposed to setting and character.
5. In closing, why should we read this book?
Thank you and have a great day!
Mrs. Thain :)

October 28th, 2013

7FLA: Please complete the reading expectations as discussed and update your reading log. Your next assignment is due on Wednesday, please be sure to see me prior to the deadline if you have any questions. * Please show your parents the new website permission slip from Mrs. Boyd. If you are able to participate, please have it signed and returned as soon as possible.
7ELA: Most have worked ahead, but just a reminder that your free write good copy is due tomorrow as well as your Reading Response Assignment. Be sure to include which question you completed to teach me about your book.  * Please be sure to return your permission slip to participate in Mrs. Boyd's new and exciting "librarything.com" project.
8E and 8FLA: Please remain devoted to your reading and reading logs. I will be collecting your reading logs and I will be asking you to self-assess your work thus far.  If you have time, ask your parents, relatives and friends for suggestions for the best ever debate topics! I have a huge selection that you may choose from, however, I thought that you would most enjoy topics that truly are of interest to you.  *Have you completed your reading response work and writing assignment. See me to ensure that you are up to date on all assignments. Re-writes for the Outsiders Summative Assessment must be completed by Thursday, if you wish to add more information to your work.
Thank you!
Mrs. Thai
