September 2011
Dear grade seven students:
It is my sincere pleasure to welcome you to my Language Arts class this year. I am looking forward to getting to know you better. I wish to help you celebrate all that you have already accomplished, and assist you with your academic growth from this day forward. I will share the outcomes to be covered this year, but I will also share my enthusiasm for teaching because I truly LOVE what I do. J
Most students would agree that it is easier to learn if you feel welcome and engaged in the learning process. To help me help you, I have a few questions that I would like you to look over. Then, please choose and answer 4 of the questions on the paper provided.
- 1.Something you do at home that helps out your family.
- 2. Something you've done that's special for a brother or sister or other relative.
- 3. One change you would like to make in the schedule or curriculum.
- 4. One reason why it's great to have a family pet.
- 5. One thing that makes it hard to do homework all the time.
- 6. Someone you would like to “shadow” for a whole day so you could learn more about what they do.
- 7. One thing that would make your community a better place for teens.
- 8. Your favorite show on TV and why you like it.
- 9. The best and worst thing about having siblings.
- 10. Something weird or unusual that you've seen on TV or read about in a magazine or newspaper.
- 11. What would you do if you won one million dollars? Why?
- 12. Do you like to travel? If you could go anywhere, where would that be? Explain.
- 13. If you could have super powers for 24 hours, what would you do and why?
- 14. Is there anything that I should know about you that would help you have a great year at SIS? Do you need a challenge? Need help with anything? * Reading? Spelling? Extra Time?
So, please keep in mind, you only need to complete four questions. This will help me get to know you better and I will also have a sample of your writing too.
Good luck, have fun and just do your best. Please see me if you have any questions or comments you would like to discuss with me.
Thank you,
Mrs. Thain J
